In a recent AutoList survey, Ford scored exceedingly well, as 38 percent of respondents chose the Ford F-150 Lightning as the all-electric pickup truck they would most likely buy. The Chevrolet Silverado EV came in second with 26 percent, while 20 percent of respondents picked the Tesla Cybertruck as their top electric truck. However, Tesla continued to score well with the 18 to 23 and 24 to 29 age demographics. The GMC Hummer EV took fourth place with 11 percent, while just five percent of buyers selected the Rivian R1T as their most desired pickup.

The upcoming 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup will be a game changer, for sure. Promising the capability people have come to expect from the best-selling F-150 while also introducing battery-electric performance to a traditional fanbase will be no small feat. However, Ford has a trick up its sleeve that may finally persuade truck owners to go electric: The F-150 Lighting will be able to charge other F-150 Lightnings.
"We are [working on] a vehicle-to-vehicle system," Zhang told The Drive. "[Charging other EVs] is going to be dependent on the power cord, and the Mach-E system is not set up for that right now, but Lightning will be."

Ford Motor Company confirmed that reservations for the all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck have surpassed 160,000, less than six months after its debut. The U.S. automaker has been accepting $100 refundable reservations for the vehicle since its unveiling. Ford has seen a high level of consumer interest, bagging 20,000 reservations on the first day, 44,000 by the end of the second day and 120,000 by the end of June.
